No Good Deed

I think we all know how this story goes, but I've never quite experienced it at this level of intensity. The unforeseen consequences of being a nice guy were way to much for me to handle this week. The inane hooplah of my car being stolen (don't worry, the epic saga will be posted when my nerves are steady enough to finish it) was completely trumped by a major friendship fallout. So for all of you kind people out there- stop it. Stop paying for people when you go out on dates. Stop buying people drinks. Stop considering other peoples feelings when you make a decision that does not directly concern them. Stop overtly adjusting your behavior so you don't step on someone's insecurities. You know what I mean.

Little Did I know...

That Wednesday afternoons at Tremont's cutest coffee shop, Civilization, was the locale for the committee on arts, culture, and absolute nothingness. I strolled into the neighborhood spot for an escape from the University library to discover Matt Wasco, a dude name Chuck, a wild local bartender by the name of Allison (if you've been to Duck Island in Ohio City, she's hard to forget), and some girl named Jessica. The topics of conversation were the expense of Asian babies, and of course, my decision to purchase "the club". After absolutely nothing was accomplished by virtue of our conversation, I realized I needed to get back to school. Hearts and Minds guys.

So when you say "The club", are you referring to the device that you lock onto your steering wheel to prevent your car from getting stolen? If so, don't feel bad, I've been ridiculed for owning one of those, but I didn't buy it, I got it for Christmas one year because my parents were getting tired of me having to deal with my car getting stolen. Best Christmas gift ever.

I am tired...like... all the time.

Do you remember when your parents (or old people you used to know) told you that "When you become my age, you'll be exhausted!" or "The old bones are weary..." or "I'm old and tired so I'm not taking you to get ice cream"? Well.... at the ripe age of 26, I think I finally understand this concept of being old and tired. I'm exhausted most of the time (sidenote: I was diagnosed with exhaustion recently), even on days where I've gotten a full night's sleep the night before. All I want to do most of the time is sit or lay down on a flat or semi-flat surface. Whats worse is that this exhaustion makes very little chemical sense, at least to me. I'm usually hopped up on tons of caffiene, overly anxious, and my mind races like Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Snowdogs. So if I don't seem as high energy as I used to be... this is my reasoning: I'm old, I'm tired, and I'm not taking you for ice cream.
