Rewind. fast forward. play.

One of the highlights of the year thus far was Rhys Chatham's gtrtrio performance at the Beachland. It was a proud moment for me, as my brother Sam and his compatriots (and dear friends) Ben Billington and Jeff Host served as members of Rhys' backing band that evening. Anyhow, Rhys recounted all of his stops on this particular tour and you can read about his account of cleveland here.

Chewing Out a Rhythm On My Bubble Gum

After a year of indentured servitude at the starbucks corporation, I am cashing in my week of paid vacation to attend my Uncle Bob's retirement party in Queens. Yup. No glitz, no glamour... Rockaway Beach. It couldn't have been at a better time either: there's not a single special band to catch in the city or brooklyn because of sxsw. The funny thing about this trip is that I've made no real effort to tell any of my friends in the city/brooklyn that I'll be there because I am actually not compelled to see most of them. I know it sounds nasty, especially since this is a public blog, but they don't read this anyway! Anyhow, I'm actually leaving ohio for the first time in forever and I think thats quite an accomplishment. Maybe next time I'll call my friends.
